As most of the surrounding village pubs and restaurants are definitely overpriced (and overrated) in some cases…the Penruddocke arms is the exception to the rule….offering good quality food…and good sized portions at a very reasonable price…oh and the staff are also very friendly…hence why for me it is head and shoulders above all the other surrounding pubs and restaurants and I will always choose coming here to eat rather than anywhere else….would most certainly recommend.

Booked a table via the website 2 months with family for a special occasion. Turned up and it was closed for refurbishment! We'd booked a fairly central point for everyone, being an hour and half furtherest for one lot of people(!). Being a Sunday mid-afternoon we found it difficult to find anywhere else nearby that would accommodate us. What was suppose to be a nice occasion turned out to be disappointing and stressful. Absolutely no mention of refurbishment on the website and the booking system is still live!!

Although a little bit out of the way, the drive was worth it for the delicious carvery. I can recommend the roast pork with crackling. Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay. Just a little disappointed that there was no real ale on tap. Staff were lovely and friendly and very attentive.

Had a big family meal at their Sunday carvery. The service was absolutely brilliant. Staff were so helpful and obliging and really took care of our large party. Food was also excellent. Would highly recommend.

Stayed here the 7th August 2024. Room was just under £50, if i remember correctly. So I wasn't expecting much. Staff seemed friendly. Got to the room and was greeted with a horrendous stench, assumed it was a clogged drain behind the building. Later i discovered it was from mouldy pasta inside the kettle. I wasn't told of any night staff while I was shown the room so I had to leave the kettle in the hallway. The room was dusty and didn't feel the cleanest but fine for the price. I would have had no issue had it not been for the mouldy kettle.

Stayed in pub overnight on Saturday. Room was comfortable and warm with a large ensuite. The decor was very dated but this is reflected in the price of the room. We opted to have dinner in the pub which was really good and staff were very welcoming. Only downside was there was no opportunity to have breakfast before we left. Asked staff when we arrived if we could get breakfast and they advised kitchen staff would not be in early enough on Sunday to provide breakfast. Overall great value for money for budget accommodation.

Had a very pleasant stay here this past weekend. Friendly staff and good sized room. They even reopened the kitchen for us when we arrived so we could eat. The food was excellent both nights and they have Camden Hells on tap so what's not to like. Very good value for money and would stay here again.

We stopped in on route to a show with a few steam engines, we had booked but were running late, we phoned them to apologise but they assured us they'd still accommodate us, which 2 hours late they did, we were warmly welcomed from the minute we pulled in the car park, we had drinks and some grub which was much needed before we went on to the show, I'd like to express my thanks to all the staff and the landlady's children who made us feel most welcome, I would wholeheartedly recommend this pub. We all enjoyed our visit 😊

Was a last minute choice and was not sure when read reviews but took a chance. A year ago they were supposedly dealing with the last owners rubbish....well... it is all still there...the gardens and entrance to rooms are disgusting...a scrap yard, garden and bushes overgrown, full black sacks, duck mess and cigarette butts everywhere plus a rogue sock and lines of tea cloths which I hoped were not going to be used in the kichen! Taken to room by the owner who made no apology for the state ...but the he was in sandals and an old t shirt!!! The room was as clean as was possible with the age and disrepair of the old building.....but even old windows can be clean. More junk in a cupboard! Very noisy road and trains ..not their fault. We said we would be down for breakfast for 9am..went down and all doors were locked to enter the pub...lady having a cigarette in the garden...owner? Got in the car and drove off and had an excellent breakfast at the Sol cafe. Probably the best idea. I am sorry for the building which could be lovely but alas not without a fortune to spend and the will.
